NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS DEMAND TAX RELIEFS

A proposal for tax reliefs for non-governmental organizations (NGO) has been tabled in the Parliamentary Committee on Civil Society Issues and is to be presented in Parliament. NGO experts propose amendments to the Corporate Income Taxation Act and the Local Taxes and Fees Act. Among the tabled changes are the removal of Value Added Tax on donations to NGOs and the exemption from taxes of real estates, owned by NGOs. The changes are to be valid for organizations registered in the Central register with the Justice Ministry. In case the changes are accepted, they are expected to lead to normal functioning, transparency and control of all Nongovernmental organizations.
