Currently Bulgaria offers interesting possibilities to French businessmen with its fiscal stability, pending privatization and commitment to join the EU and NATO, reads an article by Rouzha Lazarova in the November issue of the French journal Le Nouveau Courier, a monthly publication of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The article appeared in the run-up to the French-Bulgarian business meetings organized by the Paris Chamber on November 22 and 23. Attending the event will be Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Nikolay Vassilev.

Today Bulgaria is an interesting emerging market offering investors macroeconomic stability and medium-term predictability. Despite the fact that the country is little known to French businessmen, it has many advantages. First is its geographic location: Bulgaria is situated at a strategic position on the crossroads to the Balkan and Eastern markets.

Second, since several years ago the country has exhibited political stability in an otherwise largely volatile region. Third, it managed to cope with the consequences of the economic crisis in 1996 and now boasts favourable investment climate. Everything has been done to enable foreign companies to easily set up business in Bulgaria, enjoy tax reliefs and export their profit freely, Lazarova says.
