The Sofia Mayor Stefan Sofianski officially announced that he is to form a new political organization. A couple of weeks ago, he said that he will confirm the rumors for this decision on his 50th birthday. As he promised, on November 7, Sofianski announced that he will establish a new political organization in Bulgaria. “ On the November 11 presidential elections, I will cast my last vote as United Democratic Forces (UDF) member for Petur Stoyanov,” Sofianski said. He added that he will withdraw his membership from UDF on November 12 – one day after the elections. The new political organization will share the Christian Democratic values and its members will be "free thinkers," according to its founder. Sofianski did not consult on his initiative with President Stoyanov or Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg. The United Democratic Forces are expected to make an official statement on the issue next week.
