Deputy Economy Minister Dimiter Hadjinikolov visited the international travel fair in Thessaloniki and discussed possibilities for cooperation in projects financed under the Phare Programme with George Paschalides, Minister for Macedonia and Thrace. Tour operators from Northern Greece suggested that joint projects be elaborated for entry into third markets, the Bulgarian Economy Ministry announced after the visit. A guide to Southwestern Bulgaria and Northern Greece came as a suggestion at Hadjinikolov's meeting with the regional governor of Drama. Other regional governors also expressed a wish to revitalize regional contacts and open new border crossings. The Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT) and Bulgaria are ready to work together in cultural, mountain and religious tourism, the Economy Ministry explained. With 254,025 tourists, Greece ranks second in the number of tourists who visited Bulgaria in the first nine months of the year.
