Bulgarian Contest for Guinness

Bulgarians set some of the world records registered in the Guinness Book but only a few people know that.

The first Bulgarian to enter the Guinness Book of Records was Captain Georgi Georgiev, who made a world-round sailing tour in 1981.

One of the Bulgarian aspirants for an entry in the Guinness is a Maths teacher who proposed 1195 different solutions to one and the same problem.

Still, Bulgarians Maria Gigova and Maria Petrova are the only one largely known by all. The most individual world all-around rhythmic gymnastics titles is three and is shared by Gigova (1969, 1971, 1973 shared) and Petrova (1993, 1994, 1995 shared).

Just two days ago actors from the Bulgarian National Theatre Ivan Vazov stated they would apply for the Guinness Book of records with their countrywide tour dedicated to the theater's anniversary. The tour starts today and will go on till June 3. The troupe will present 50 performances of nine plays in their repertoir in 27 towns.
