"The Passion of the Christ" Comes to Bulgaria Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ will see it Bulgarian performance today. The controversial movie, with two Bulgarian actors in the star-set crew, triggered hot discussions all over the world.

The controversial movie, with two Bulgarian actors in the star-set crew, triggered hot discussions all over the world, will excite the Bulgarian fans with its national premier this evening. The movie saw its world premier on February 25.

Bulgarians Hristo Shopov, in the role of Pilatus the Pontius, and Hristo Zhivkov, reincarnated into John, Christ's favorite pupil, play shoulder to shoulder with world famous James Caviezel (Jesus Christ) and Monica Bellucci (maria Magdalena) in the leading male and female role.

The film about the last 12 hours of Jesus' life received an enthusiastic response among filmgoers at preview screenings. Still, it has been attacked by some Jewish groups as being anti-Semitic, while critics have denounced what they say is "brutal and graphic" violence.

The controversial film has brought in a whopping USD 360 M to date since its release in February the US.
