The Washington Post published a letter to the editor by Filip Dimitrov, the Bulgarian Ambassador to the United States. The letter refuted allegations in an article that listed Bulgaria among the possible anthrax sources. On October 20, the Washington Post ran a story with a map of possible anthrax sources, which was based on a 1993 report by the Office of Technology Assessment. It claimed that Bulgaria was one of 17 nations that might have biological weapons programs that could include anthrax.
