A special supplement to bill on privatization and post-privatization control was tabled in Parliament. It envisages the sale of all Bulgarian polyclinics, sanotoriums and 300 hospitals. The sale would follow a general order of procedure. The preservation of their current operations would not be obligatory. Doctors’ management-employee buyout companies are to be deprived of their priorities in the privatization procedure. According to the supplement only 63 Bulgarian hospitals are to continue functioning, including 26 former regional hospitals and national rehabilitation centers. A decision on the future of the municipality-owned health institutions will be taken two months after the adoption of the bill.
