Bulgarian-Canadian Mia Kirshner has become one of the stars in the United States with her role in "The L Word," an ensemble drama on the Showtime cable network.
Mia plays Jenny Schecter, a dark and brooding writer in her 20's just out of the University of Chicago. She comes to Los Angeles to live with her boyfriend and suddenly finds herself torn between her loyalty to him and an illicit passion for a woman.
I actually think that for me it's always less about sexuality, Mia told New York Times.
"It's more about the political and social implications. It's scary, especially when you're someone who gravitates toward darkness like Jenny does. What I know about her until now is that she's so unbelievably lonely."
Over the last fifteen years Mia Kirshner has starred in 24 films, some of them openly sexually and provocative - "Party Monster", "Exotica".
