Draft amendments to the Public Procurement Act envisage the establishment of a new state agency in charge of public procurement. Its members are to be appointed by the Cabinet. The agency will keep a public register on procurement, the access to which will be paid. The implementation of major future green fields projects should be carried out under the act, representatives of the Bulgarian Employers Association (BEA) said. According to them more Bulgarian companies should take part in the tenders for awarding public orders. The transparency of the offers should be guaranteed. The BEA insists that the Bulgarian participants in the tenders should enjoy certain privileges, including a 20% discount on the their bids’ evaluation.
