Canadian equipment for extraction of a concentrate with a higher percent of copper and gold will be introduced in the Zidarovo pit, a part of Bulgaria’s Burgas Copper Mines. The Lawrence-Martin Zidarovo joint venture, which runs the pit, plans to launch the equipment in the beginning of November 2001. It will allow the extraction of sulphide materials-free gold. Gold extraction at the pit had been stopped due to the low copper and gold content of the concentrate. The new equipment is expected to increase it up to 22 kg per tone of the processed material.
