Don't Forget the Time Today

Society | March 27, 2004, Saturday // 00:00

Bulgaria has rewound clocks with one hour forward, at 3 am local time March 28.

Thus the country is switching over to summer timing, along with all European countries.

Bulgaria adopted the switch between summer and winter time in 1979, almost seventy years after it was applied for the first time in Great Britain, in 1908.

Since 1981 European Community (EC) Directives have prescribed the start and end dates of summer time in member states. These are set as the last Sundays in March and October respectively.

This year the return to the astronomic time will be on October 31, at 4 am.
