The Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy met the Hungarian Defense Minister Janos Szabo on October 30. The two ministers discussed the army reform, terrorism, and the new global challenges at the meeting. "We wish to learn from the experience of Hungary, which joined NATO earlier than Bulgaria, in order to fasten the accession process and to render easier all related procedures," Passy said. Szabo expressed his country's willingness to share its experience as a NATO member. `Experts from the two countries meet on a quarterly basis to exchange expertise,` the guest said. According to him, the tragic events of 11 September may serve to fasten the process of the alliance's enlargement. The meeting with the Foreign Minister was the last event on the agenda of Szabo's two-day official visit on the invitation of the Defense Minister Nikolay Svinarov. On October 29, Szabo conferred with his counterpart and with the Bulgarian President Petur Stoyanov. "When Bulgaria is invited next year in Prague to become a member of NATO, we will be pleased to sign the accession document upon parliament's approval," Hungarian Defence Minister Janos Szabo said. Szabo added that he anticipates future bilateral cooperation within NATO.
