More than 30 leaders of Balkan Youth Non-governmental Organizations attended the two-day seminar “The Balkans in Europe” in the town of Veliko Turnovo, situated in Northern Bulgaria. The goal of the project discussed on October 27 is to build a new image of the Balkans based on tolerance and cooperation. The initiators, the Political Academy for Central and Southeastern Europe, hope to find the solution to many common regional problems. The project is realized with the assistance of the British Westminster Foundation for Democracy. Four working meetings are to be held in each one of the partner countries. Current problems of cooperation, the challenges young people in the Balkans face, the fight against terrorism and the role of youth organizations are to be discussed. The organizers want the participants in the forum to review certain Balkan myths in the light of the new, integrating world, to write the new textbook on Balkan history.
