The 13th session of the Bulgarian-EU joint parliamentary committee will take place October 29 and 30. The participants in the meeting will hear the positions of the Cabinet and the leadership of the EU Council and the European Commission on issues related to Bulgaria's EU accession and the negotiations process. Parliament Speaker Ognyan Gerdzhikov and Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg will address the session. Belgian Ambassador Egmond de Wilde will deliver a speech as representative of the Council of the European Union. Bulgaria's chief negotiator with the EU Meglena Kouneva is also scheduled to speak before the forum. The participants will discuss the political and economic situation in Bulgaria, the role of the judiciary in Bulgaria's preparation to join the EU, Europe's future, the role of the parliaments, security and stability in Southeastern Europe. Participating in the meeting will be EMPs from Greece, Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Britain, who are members of the joint parliamentary committee.
