Russia Declared Interest in Bulgaria's IT and Tourism Privatization

Russia's Trade and Industry Chamber (TIC) is interested in intensifying the trade relations with Bulgaria, including larger distribution of Bulgarian goods on the Russian market, Evgenii Primakov, President of TIC stated after meeting with Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Economy minister Lidya Shuleva in Moscow on Monday.

He outlined the good preconditions for promoting Russia-manufactured goods to set foot on the Bulgarian market.

At the current political climate and in view with the on-going privatization in Bulgaria, the Russian Federation is set to take part in the privatization of sectors like high technologies and tourism, Evgenii Primakov stated.

He explained that Russian enterprises do share interests in exporting to Bulgaria, but they were more willing to set joint ventures locally in the Balkan country, for which Russian TIC was fully ready to cooperate.

Evgenii Primakov, former Russian prime minister and foreign minister, praised the establishment of a Bulgaria-Russian Business Forum, suggesting that it takes place twice a year.

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Lidya Shuleva is on a two-day working visit in capital Moscow. She also had talks with her colleague Aleksei Kudrin, who favored his country's intention to pay off part of its debt to Bulgaria till end of 2004.
