Winner in Bulgarian Harry Potter Casting Unlikely to Get Hefty Hollywood Pay

The Bulgarian boy who hopefully will be selected for the part of Viktor Krum in the fourth Harry Potter film is not likely to get the hefty pay of a Hollywood star, Bulgarian Casting Director Victor Bozhinov said in an interview for Trud Daily.

The chance to star in the movie and become an international celebrity has gripped the nation's teenagers, but Bozhinov expressed serious doubts that the role could bring wealth as well as international popularity.

Judging by the pay Bulgarian actors get by starring in foreign productions, I do not expect the Bulgarian Viktor Krum to get the hefty pay of a Hollywood star, he said.

The casting will take place at the "Studentski Dom" in Sofia on two successive days - February 4 and 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hundreds of Bulgarian kids from across the country and abroad are expected to bid for the part and security measures will be duly taken.

The selection will start at the very entrance of the Studenski dom, where Bulgarian director Alexander Kossev will let in only those boys, who apparently enjoy higher chances to come out as winners in the casting. Once inside the building, the candidates will fill in a blank with their biographical data, weight, favorite books, experience in working with a camera. An interview with Bozhinov then will follow.

The candidates for the role of the 17-year-old captain of the Bulgarian Quidditch team, one of the leading roles in the movie, are required to be aged 15-19, swarthy boys in good health. Some knowledge of English is also obligatory. Their appearance must answer to a certain extent the not-so-flattering description of the character in the book - dark, bushy eyebrows, a crooked nose and a slouch.

The casting in Sofia is the first of all three stages in the contest for the part of Viktor Krum, the other two crucial competitions will take place in London. Those who are willing to get more information, call 099 314 866.
