`Bulgaria will renew its membership in the international carrier Interlichter through the Bulgarian River Shipping Corporation (BRSC),` Dimitar Stanchev, the corporation`s manager said. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Denubian River Shipping Companies held in Kiev. Bulgaria froze its participation in Interlichter in 1999 because of the company`s poor financial state and the lack of business prospects. According to Stanchev, new impetus was given to Interlichter with the inclusion of the biggest Russian River Shipping Company, Severozapadno Parahodstvo. The Russian participation in Interlichter will make possible to connect Danubian countries and the Russian river ports. This would also help the entry of foreign vessels into the Russian inland waterways, which now have to overcome many legislative obstacles.
