Bulgarian mega football star Hristo Stoitchkov might have inspired JK Rowling for the creation of the Bulgarian quidditch team in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, writer Alek Popov suggested.

Earlier in the week it was announced that a Bulgarian boy is wanted to take part in the next Harry Potter movie. The kid will play 17-year-old captain of the Bulgarian quidditch team Viktor-Krum, one of the leading roles in the movie.

In Popov's words JK Rowling might have seen the Bulgarian national football team that occupied fourth place at the World Football Cup in 1994. Krum is described as "thin, dark, and sallow-skinned, with a large curved nose and thick black eyebrows", a look that matches Hristo Stoitchkov appearance, Popov said.

Rowling names the entire team that includes Dimitrov, Zograf, Levski, Vulchanov, Volkov and Krum.

The Bulgarian team is supported by veela described as "the most beautiful women Harry had ever seen" and these creatures according to Popov match the typical Bulgarian wood-nymphs.

The world-renowned UK author mentions the names of the entire Bulgarian quidditch team that faces the Ireland squad at the finals of the Quidditch World Cup.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire premier is planned for 2005.

Also on Thursday Bulgarian 24 Hours daily reported that there was a Bulgarian link into the Harry Potter saga even earlier. One Bulgarian boy Boris Mitkov, the grandchild of distinguished writer Leda Mileva took part in Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone. The 9-year old Boris was one of the children that were at the Hogwarts.
