The German Hans Seidel Foundation will help the state bodies and administrations in the towns of Vidin in Bulgaria, Calafat in Romania, and Zaicar and Negotin in Serbia to develop the border cooperation and security improvement. Hans Seidel representatives and a delegation of the German province of Bavaria trained the mayors of the four border towns in Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia. Heads of the customs bureau in Vidin and NGO s representatives also participated in the two-day training course. The course was about how to ensure better security in the border regions. `Being the first such meeting, the Vidin meeting was a fact-finding one, and laid the groundwork for joint actions to ensure better security in this border area,` Vidin Regional Governor Poli Trifonova said. The representatives of the German foundation and of the Bavarian Interior Ministry visited the border checkpoints at the nearby ferryboat facility.
