The closing down of the State Telecommunications Commission /STC/ may block the Bulgarian telecommunications activities, experts commented, quoted by Dnevnik Daily. Proposed amendments to the Telecommunications Act envisage the establishment of a Telecommunications Regulatory Commission that will assume control over the postal services prices. This regulatory commission will also start issuing radio, TV and mobile phone licenses. It is also expected to organize telecommunications tenders. The closure of STC will bring about a three-month delay in the regulatory body`s work. This slowdown cannot be allowed to take place in such a dynamic sector, according to experts. The closing down of STC will also hamper the control over the Electronic Signature Act implementation and on the frequencies usage connected with the Bulgarian national security.
