In 2003, Bulgaria has allotted BGN 2.5 M for the making of seven films, local Dnevnik daily wrote. Those projects were selected out of 12 candidates for the funding.

The films "The Arrogant Revolt of L", "The Journey", "Small Talk", "The Prince and the Beggar" and "Monkeys during Wintertime" received BGN 400,000 to 450,000 each, while BGN 100,000 were allotted for "The House". Authors of "Ships are Overloaded", a documentary, received some BGN 30,000.

The Bulgarian National Television is involved with the producing of six of the film, Dnevnik reads.

Over the last few years, Bulgarian filmmaking is said to have fallen into a crisis, with few or no funds assigned for most of the projects. Many of the Bulgarian people involved with this business also insist that filmmaking in the country doesn't pay off. They even sounded an alarm that the entire industry is falling into a collapse.
