`At this point there is no tangible risk of biological terrorist attacks in Bulgaria, `, Nedjet Mollov, the Head of the Standing Committee for Protection of the Population against Disasters and Accidents, says in a governmental statement to the media.
`Reports about boxes and envelopes with powdered substance found at various places or received by post, some even with `anthrax` written on them, come daily but in none of the cases the powder was found to contain any agents causing an infection
disease,` the report goes on. An emergency center was set up with the Committee to handle all reports of suspicious mail, substances and others. Its first meeting focused on the interaction among the competent services and formulated specific instructions for coordinating the work of these services by regions. The National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases said the results of tests on 20 samples of powder made in the last four days are all anthrax negative. The center is to open an hot line for anthrax suspicions on October 22.
