MEETING OF EUROPEAN DIVERSITY PROJECT IN SOFIA

A working meeting on Link Diversity project of the Council of Europe opened in Sofia
on October 19. The meeting is held under the aegis of the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe. `The aim of the project is to release the great energy hidden
in ethnic differences in the name of the well-being of the civil societies on the continent, and the Bulgarian society has the creative potential to work on this project, ` Professor
Alexander Andonov, President of the project`s national managing committee, said. `An awareness-rising campaign to promote multiethnic society and democratic citizenship in Bulgaria was laucnched. The campaign is in support of Working Table 1 of the Council of Europe and the German Government,` Andonov added. `The Council of Europe campaign will assist stability in Southeastern Europe, `reads a letter by Foreign Minister Solomon Passy to the meeting in which he promises full support to the campaign. Chief Mufti Selim Mehmed also attended the meeting. He said that he plans to tour regions with Muslim population together with foreign diplomats in the end of October.
