[Announcer] President Stoyanov commented in a conversation with journalists on the possible Bulgarian position if the country is asked to send troops to Macedonia:
[Stoyanov] I expressed my position on this issue long before any Bulgarian politician dared to comment on it at all.
Bulgaria must assess very carefully all pluses and minuses of such a decision. However, we must not forget that Bulgaria is in a very specific relationship with EU and NATO. Bulgaria is a candidate for membership of NATO and the EU. Bulgaria has made a very successful start in its negotiations on NATO membership - excuse me, EU membership. All this must make our commitment very clear. If the Macedonian government requests it, and if the international organizations of which Bulgaria is a member, for example, the United Nations, approve this, and our friends and allies recommend it, the Bulgarian government must review very carefully such a decision.
