1025 kg of drugs are caught so far from the beginning of the year at the Bulgarian southern border Kapitan Andreevo. According to a report of the American Agency for Drugs Fight only 10% of the drugs that are being transferred are caught. That means that nearly 10 tons of drugs are transferred through Bulgaria annually. According to experts of the drugs department of the `Kapitan Andreevo` border the drugs come from Afghanistan to Turkey. Afterwards the drugs are processed in Western Europe and thus go through Bulgaria. Three European Union officials observed the way the Bulgarian frontier guards stop the drugs trafficking on October 17. Bulgaria is situated on the so-called `Balkan Way` of the drugs – the majority of the illegal packages are transferred through that route from Asia to Europe.
