Firefighters battled both flames and treacherous Santa Ana winds as they sought to subdue a wildfire that destroyed four houses, a handful of cars and chased more than 1,000 people from their homes. The so-called "Devil Winds," which pick up speed as they blow through mountain canyons from the desert to the coast this time of year. On Friday, firefighters battled winds and high temperatures as they sought to get a handle on the fire, which forced the temporary closure of both Interstates 210 and 15, the latter the main route connecting Las Vegas to Southern California.
