Bulgaria's Red Cross organized a two-day Health fair in connection to the International month for fight with breast cancer. The fair will take place at Sofia's central shopping center Halite.

The fair aims to attract women of all ages and to show them that the breast cancer is treatable if diagnosed at an early stage. Many cancer specialists would take part in the Health fair.

The Health Fair is organized in cooperation with International Women's Club in Sofia and is under the patronage of Bulgarian prime minister's wife Margarita Gomez-Acebo with the active participation of the wife of US Ambassador James Pardew, Kathy Pardew, and the wife of the Spanish Ambassador Emma Hernandez.

Earlier in the week the International Women's Club in Sofia and twenty more companies and organizations launched a breast cancer campaign to raise public and health profession awareness, prevention and cure of the disease as well as vital information and support to those affected by the disease.

Some 3 100 women have been diagnosed with breast cancer over the last several years, which makes it the most often met disease among Bulgarian women, accounting for 23,1% of the malignant tumours and 17,7% of the death cases in 2000.
