Politics | October 14, 2001, Sunday // 00:00

The Euroleftist Party re-elected Alexander Tomov for Chairman of the party at its 3d two day congress that took place in the Sofia Opera House. Since the elections in July when the Euroleftist Party did not gain the necessary percentage to enter the Bulgarian Parliament, Tomov resigned. Since then, he stayed leader of the party as Chairman in Resignation. At the congress, 63% of the Euroleftist party members decided to support his candidature. His main opponent for the position was Dragomir Draganov. `The Euroleftist party showed with that vote that it does not have any instinct for self preservation,` Draganov said after the voting procedure ended and the results were announced.
