NEW DRAFT LAWS SOON IN THE PARLIAMENT

Politics | October 14, 2001, Sunday // 00:00

The majority in the parliament will launch a legislative offensive till end-year, was announced Sunday. I expect extraordinary sittings of parliament to be held to adopt the 24 priority laws of the government, Lutvi Mestan from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms explained. We, as well as our colleagues from the Simeon`s movement are dissatisfied with the work of the National Assembly. I don`t expect more breakdowns, he said. In the meantime it became clear that the participants in the seminar in Pamporovo had been handed in by Solomon Passy a list of domestic problems which might have a negative effect on Bulgaria`s admittance to NATO. Among them are a possible inflation up to 10%, unemployment - up to 18% and corruption. Stepping up the struggle against organized crime, traffic in people and drugs are pointed to as basic priorities.
