Stockholm's district court ordered that the man arrested in connection with the murder of foreign minister Anna Lindh be kept in detention. Judge Goeran Nilsson granted the prosecutors' request for continued detention of the 24-year-old man, who was arrested on Wednesday. Prosecutors had until midday Saturday to file their request for his continued detention, but decided to make their move earlier, apparently convinced that they had a strong case. They now have until October 10 to gather further evidence to bring formal charges against him.The court also ordered a psychiatric examination of the suspect, whom press reports have described as unstable with violent tendencies.
