FINANCE MINISTER MET IMF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Bulgarian Finance Minister Milen Velchev, who is at a working visit to US, talked on October 9 with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Director Johannes de Beaufort Wijnholds. Wijnholds is also Head of the Dutch Constituency Group. Velchev also met with IMF Mission Leader for Bulgaria Jerald Schiff as part of the negotiations which started in Sofia. Velchev agreed to the International Monetary Fund demand that the zero tax on reinvested profit be abolished. On October 10, Velchev met World Bank Country Director for Bulgaria Andrew Vorkink and IMF First Deputy Managing Director Anne O. Krueger. He had a meeting with John Taylor, Treasury Undersecretary for International Affairs. Velchev will also meet with Pieter Stek, Executive Director of the World Bank`s Netherlands Constituency Group, and Johannes Linn, the World Bank`s Vice President for Europe and Central Asia.
