Spain's policemen detained a 30-year-old Bulgarian from the town of Krivodol, Bulgaria's Darik Radio said Sunday. The man was wanted for a series of car thefts and legal proceedings against him have been started in courts of the Bulgarian towns of Montana and Botevgrad.

Bulgarian policemen detained the infringer during a special operation some three years ago. However, he had to be released and put under home arrest due to health trouble, which required special medical care.

The man took advantage of the situation and escaped across border, policemen reported.

On Saturday another Bulgarian car thief was detained at a Greek border checkpoint. The man was trying to get back into Bulgaria with an automobile he stole in France.
