Police Unblocks Central Sofia after False Terror Alert

A suitcase allegedly full of explosives left at a bustling crossroad in Sofia on Thursday proved empty after special service officers opened it.

Police who had blocked the area after the suitcase tip-off reopened the central thoroughfares.

The caution came after 04:00 pm and pointed at the corner of Rakovski and Vassil Levski Boulevards.

People from apartment and office buildings in the blocked area had been evacuated for half an hour.
