AMBASSADOR MILES INFORMED FIRST MINISTER PASSY

`The American Ambassador to Bulgaria Richard Miles informed on his own the Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy that the military action in Afganistan started,` the spokeswoman of the Foreign Ministry Elena Poptodorova said, quoted by Info Radio. The two officials had a telephone conversation at around 8pm on October 7. Poptodorova added that no permit for transport corridor was demanded from Bulgaria yet. `Bulgaria is not in the heart of the operation, `she said. Meanwhile the Bulgarian President Stoyanov summoned the chiefs of special services in connection with the operation in Afghanistan. The meeting was attended by the Director of the National Security Service, General Atanas Atanassov, the Director of the National Intelligence Service, General Dimo Gyaourov, the Chief of Military Intelligence, General Angel Katsarov, and the Director of the National Bodyguard Service, General Dimiter Vladimirov, said Stoyanov`s Press Secretary Neri Terzieva. Representatives of NATO countries informed the Bulgarian President on the military operation in Afganistan minutes before it started. Stoyanov talked to Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg and Foreign Minister Solomon Passy before the meeting with the Special Services.
