The number of foreign tourists that visited Bulgaria in July increased by some 22 percent as compared to July 2002, data of Bulgaria's Economy Ministry show.
The number of foreign tourist that the country welcomed January-July 2003 also went up by some 14 percent year-on-year, data show. Most of the foreigners that chose to visit Bulgaria during those seven months came from Germany, followed by Greece, Macedonia, the UK and Russia.
The number of visitors from European Union member countries alone increased by some 21 percent.
Foreigners find the country attractive because of its well-preserved national environment and plenty of resorts where prices are lower than those of many other European destinations.
