Police in Bulgaria outlined suspects in the investigation of the killing of arms trader Phillip Naydenov - Fatik, Interior Chief Secretary Gen. Boyko Borisov said.

The late notorious man was watched by Bulgaria's special services for five or six years but nothing was found to accuse him of. This is what the general said and commented that some circles within the special services deliberately botched the enquiry.

Six versions are being investigated following the killing of Fatik on Tuesday. The police suspects the attackers who sprayed bullets on Fatik's Mercedes at a busy crossing in Sofia were foreigners. This is what the chief of the city's investigation service, Gen. Valentin Varbanov, said a day after the killing.

The post mortem examination was conducted Wednesday morning and a string of expertises are expected to be order afterwards. They aim to determine the type of the weapon used, the direction in which the bullets were fired and other important details.

The police interrogated Fatik's driver who survived the attack and has been hospitalized.

Kurdish-born Fatik adopted Bulgarian citizenship and changed his name in the early 90s.

Bulgarian media claim that he and his father Shaban were involved in drugs and arms traffic even before 1989. Shaban Fatik has set up the channels of Bulgaria's state owned company Kintex that was allegedly involved in arms traffic. Shaban Fatik was on the list of Interpol wanted people and was in hiding in Bulgaria where the communist government protected him.
