Bulgaria's ruling party Simeon II National Movement proposed to President Parvanov that Prof. Maria Pavlova head the Central Electoral Commission for this fall's mayoral and municipal elections.

Prof. Pavlova chaired the electoral commission during the last presidential election some two years ago.

On Wednesday, President Parvanov conclusively fixed the date of the oncoming elections on October 26. The political forces also agreed on the distribution of the seats in the Central Electoral Commission.

The accord allows ten representatives of Bulgaria's ruling party. Leftist Coalition for Bulgaria and the United Democratic Forces will have four representatives each, junior coalition partner of the ruling party -- Movement for Rights and Freedoms -- gets two seats and the National Ideal for Unity - one.
