Bulgarian Vice President Angel Marin left Friday for neighboring Macedonia and joined Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski in celebrations of 100 years since the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising.
The invitation came from Trajkovski who met with Marin in the Macedonian town of Krushevo.
The Ilinden-Preobrazhenie uprising was named after the Holy prophet Ilia who is honored on the same day. It was an act of protest against decision of the Berlin Congress, which divided greater Bulgaria -- created at San Stefano -- into North Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia. The Congress also left Macedonia (including Adrianople) under unrestricted Ottoman sovereignty.
