The Bulgarian Interior Minister told journalists that the state has nothing to do with the illegal tapping of the Automatic Telephone Stations, quoted by Info Radio. `No politicians have been tapped, `Petkanov also said. The illegal tapping has not been discovered for seven years since it took place in halls that were specially built for war time, according to Petkanov. Few people had access to these halls. He did not announce the names or the number of the people involved in the affaire. However, he stated that enough proves have been gathered to sue the alleged ones. Economic interests were behind the tapping in Sofia. Private companies and persons ordered the tapping. There are also former employees of the Interior Ministry involved, according to Petkanov. Later during the day the former Director of the Speacialized Investigation Agency said that political intersts might have been involved in the telephone tapping.
