The communications regulating commission in Sofia is in search for candidates to launch three satellites into space. The satellites will transmit radio, television, Internet, and voice telephony signals as well as convey data.
The commission specified that at this stage it only announced its intention to issue licenses for the use of the geostationary orbit fixed for Bulgaria.
If there are investors to be found willing to launch the satellites and use them for their purpose, the commission pledged to invite a tender.
According to international agreemnts, Bulgaria was given space over the Equator where it is allowed to run satellites.
The country is currently able to launch three satellites - two of them to cover the its own territory and one to span the whole Balkan Peninsula.
