Bulgaria's Biggest Insurer Covers Risks for Iraq-Bound Battalion

The biggest Bulgarian insurer DZI secured full-range insurance for the Bulgarian infantry battalion that leaves Saturday on an Iraq peacekeeping mission. The military unit will be indemnified in case of accidents and will have medical expanses covered. It has also cargo, property and civil liability insurances.

DZI clinched the right to insure the Bulgarian contingent following a tender, which it won by presenting the best conditions and prices.

DZI boast vast experience in insuring Bulgarian soldiers as it has covered all war risks for the country's peacekeeping contingents in Cambodia, West Sahara, and Bosnia.

The Iraq peacekeepers are now insured against permanent or temporary inability to work caused by an accident as a result of their duty or while it has been exercised. In case of death, the family of the combater will get an indemnification of BGN 50,000 and DZI will also cover the expenses for repatriation from Iraq.

The Bulgarian soldiers have also been insured against heatstrokes.
