Bulgaria's politicians should stop seeing science and culture as just another burden for the state budget, President Georgi Parvanov said Monday.

Parvanov's statement came during his meeting with fifty-one academicians from the Bulgarian Academy of Science July 21st.

The president called for additional funding for Bulgarian science so that it could soon reach the European standards. More young specialists should get involved in the scientific activities, Parvanov added.
