Members of Bulgaria's Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) won't back the proposal of its leader Nadezhda Mihaylova to hold an extraordinary national conference, UDF Deputy Chairman Emanuil Yordanov said Monday.
The conference was to confirm the ruling policy of UDF after it withdrew support for Plamen Oresharski who was elected to run for Sofia mayor on the ticket of the party.
A special meeting of the UDF National Council would be more appropriate at the moment than an extraordinary conference, Yordanov said. He added that ruling principles set by UDF's last extraordinary conference didn't require any changes.
Some speculations claim that Mihaylova called for such meeting in an aim to decline responsibility for her controversial decision to withdraw Oresharski's candidature.
