Bulgaria's right-wing opposition party Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) formed a coalition with the Agrarian Party and civil movement "Gergyovden" for the upcoming local elections, Aleksandar Pramatarski, MP and leader of the Democratic Party that is part of the Union said Monday.
Pramatarski also invited all of Bulgaria's other rightist parties to join the coalition.
The news came after earlier in July the UDF withdrew their support for Plamen Oresharski who was to run for Sofia mayor on the ticket of the rightist party. The move caused Sofia's Municipal Council Chairman Antoan Nikolov and leaders of the UDF Youth Union to leave the party.
There have been assumptions that the withdrawal of Oresharski from the competition would also have a negative effect on public confidence in the right-wing opposition.
Speculations now claim that the new coalition might appoint Lyuben Dilov, Junior from "Gergyovden" movement as their candidate for the post of Sofia mayor.
