World Bank Appoints New Country Director for Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania

The World Bank (WB) appointed Anand K. Seth for Country Director for the South Central Europe (covering Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania). His successor Andrew N. Vorkink has been appointed Country Director for Turkey.

Seth joined the World Bank in 1972 as a Young Professional. He has led work in both in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) Region and the Middle East and North Africa (MNA) Region, on adjustment operations, portfolio management, and the Environmental Program for Eastern Europe as well as Middle East and North Africa. He was the Deputy Chief in Bank's Country Office in Bangladesh and has extensive experience with external partners, especially the EU institutions on issues of transition and accession.

Most recently Seth worked on a number of corporate issues, including the cost of doing business with the Bank and the Bank's decentralization strategy.
