MEDIA ACT AMENDMENTS MAY CONFLICT EC REQUIREMENTS

`The amendments to the Radio and Television Act might lead to an unprecedented conflict with the European Union and even to re-opening of the Culture and Audio-video Policy chapter from the accession negotiations with the European Union,` sources from the Simeon II National Movement said, quoted by Dnevnik Daily. The parliamentary majority was eager to quickly pass the amendments. The Council of Europe insisted that the amendments are delayed with two weeks. In this way the Council will be able to present its position on the Act and eventually revise it so that harmonization with European requirements is achieved.
