Bulgaria's Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg announced Tuesday that former leader of the incumbent floor group Plamen Panayotov will get a post in the government. Till the end of the week, the prime minister will reveal which administration will be headed by Panayotov. According to Parliament Speaker Ognyan Gerdzhikov, the former floor leader will most probably be appointed a deputy prime minister.
Saxe-Coburg broke the news about the promotion at a meeting of the ruling party's MPs, which elected a new leadership of the floor group replacing Panayotov with his deputy Stanimir Ilchev. The reshuffle comes as the prime minister pledged to make changes in both the government and its majority in the parliament.
The first indication that Panayotov will enter the Cabinet, emerged as late as a few hours before the meeting when the prime minister's coalition partner Ahmed Dogan said he was a real "treasure" on Bulgaria's political scene.
The Cabinet reshuffle may affect ministers from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, Ahmed Dogan, leader of the junior coalition partner -- the predominantly ethnic Turkish movement -- said.
The governmental reconstruction should be expected before the Parliament's summer recess due in August.
