At a news conference today, the Democratic Party of Turks [DPT] has voiced its opinions, remarks and proposals regarding the text of the draft amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia. Party leader Erdogan Sarac pointed out that the amendments contained in the Framework Agreement are not acceptable to his party. The party believes that the above marginalizes the Turkish and other ethnic minorities living in the country, while the Macedonians and the ethnic Albanians are granted a dominant status. In connection with Bulgaria`s suggestion that its citizens be legible for denationalization of their property in Macedonia, the Turks have come up with an initiative that the immigrants who have left the country and moved to Turkey should also submit such requests. The DPT has already started to collect documents pertaining to the number of these people.
