Wages in Bulgaria will equal those in the euro zone shortly after accession according to the country's Euro-integration Minister Meglena Kuneva. She insisted that the European Commission has the obligation to work for the equity of pay across the Union.

In an interview for Bulgarian bTV television, Kuneva pointed out the adjustment period following the entry would take two years.

Bulgaria will become more "orderly" and the state administration will "care more about the people" following the accession, she promised.
